In 1904 Emile Dantinne (19/4/1884–1969) is initiated by the famous artist and symbolist icon Joseph-Aimé Péladan (1858–1918), who together with his brother Dr. Adrien Péladan Jr. (1844-1885), had inherited an old Pythagorean lineage from their father Chevalier Louis-Adrien Péladan. This lineage was passed on to Dantinne, who also was consecrated by Péladan as his successor to 'L'Ordre de la Rose-Croix Catholique'. In the beginning the Belgian branch was gathering in the attic of the Ravenstein Hotel.
In 1918, after Péladan's demise, the order is reorganized by his main disciples. Émile Gary (de Lacroze) as well as the the painter Jaques Brasilier continues the work in France, but it eventually perished. Dantinne perpetuates the Order based on the remnants of the Temples KVMRIS (Kunris/Kymris), POLLUX, and VISCVM. The name of the Order is slightly corrected from 'Catholique' to 'Universelle', so as to not confuse it with the Roman-Catholic Religion.
In 1919 Dantinne implements major reorganization of the orders, dividing R+C into two sections ('Universelle' vs 'Universitaire') and branching out the Pythagorean impulse under the name A.M.E.S. (Les Amis de la Meditation et de la Science). Jean Mallinger (1904–1982) is initiated into the Order.
In 1932 the Pythagorean Order is renamed O::H::T::M:: (Ordre Hermetiste Tetramegiste et Mystique).
In 1934 the F.U.D.O.S.I. (Federatio Universalis Dirigens Ordines Societatesque Initiationis) is established as an umbrella. Dantinne along with Harvey Spencer Lewis (1883-1939) and Victor Blanchard (1878-1953) were the Triangle heading its Twelve-member Supreme Council. Dantinne was Imperator for the Center, Blanchard for the Orient and Lewis for the Occident. During this era, the genuine Initiatory Orders of the Western Esoteric Tradition were, with few exceptions, consolidated within this network - ultimately dissolving in 1951.
In 1953 Dantinne abdicates and consecrates Jean Mallinger as head of the Pythagorean Order.
In 1955, with Dantinne's blessing, O::H::T::M:: branches into two distinct orders remaining in mutual amity: Ordo Hermetis Trismegisti .'. containing room for Christian philosophy, and Ordo Hermes Tetramegistos :: based on a more puritan Paganism.
In 1958 O.R.A. (Ordo Rosae Aurae) is accepted as a German jurisdiction of the Pythagorean Order.
In 1981 the German Head Instructor inherits leadership of both O.R.A. and O::H::T::M::.
In 1995 the leadership of O.R.A., O::H::T::M::, as well as its other global jurisdictions, is transferred to Belgium.
In December 1998 begins the advent of the Pythagorean Order in Greece. At first it start as a branch of the O::H::T::M:: under the full authority and auspices of the Belgian Head Instructor - that is, it did not yet own Initiatory and Administrative Autonomy.
In 2003 O.R.A. and O::H::T::M:: branches out as independent Orders remaining in mutual amity.
In October 2012 the Greek Branch attains Initiatory Sequence and thus acquires and holds the ability to transmit Initiations. At the same time the Global Head Instructor of the international Order changes and the headquarters of O::H::T::M:: moves to France.
In October 2014 the Greek Branch becomes a full Jurisdiction, that is it acquires in perpetual Autonomy and becomes an Autarky. The Greek Jurisdiction now holds all the Esoteric and Exoteric Instructions of the Pythagorean Order.
In October 2015, an irreparable philosophic disagreement between the French Global Head Instructor and the Head Instructor of the Greek Jurisdiction, leads to secession of the Greek Jurisdiction.
In October 2016 the T::E::T::M:: is established, completely independent of O::H::T::M:: and with its own Emblems, Stamp and Logo. T::E::T::M:: is now pursuing its own Path with the aim of expanding its Pythagorean Instructions, both Nationally and Internationally.

The Rites of the Pythagorean Order were inherited as skeletons and further formulated by François Soetewey, Jean Mallinger, and Emile Dantinne. Later, they were revised more to bring them into closer harmony with the ancient rites. They are symbolically recorded in various places, so that anyone possessing the Knowledge can reveal them.
Much of the information came from:
Furthermore, certain elements were injected from other Traditions, such as the Alchemical, Rosicrucian, Martinist, Masonic, Orthodox & Catholic Christian traditions. The Order is particularly receptive to any justified intervention that would improve the Power of its Rites, such as from Contemporary Science.
Along the way, the present form of the Rites has also been enriched and evolved by Guiding Messages, sent by the Heavenly Brotherhood to trained recipients in the Order. Through recalls, the Mystical Sequence of the Ancient Mysteries, which Pythagoras was initiated into and inspired from, is guaranteed until our present days.

- The Reliefs of the Temple and the frescoes of Pronaos of the Pythagorean Basilica of Porta Maggiore in Rome, and
- The depictions of the Egyptian Temples and the Papyrus, and
- Fragmented texts and scriptures of ancient vehicles of the Order.

The official color of T::E::T::M:: is magenta (rhodochrous) that is, the color of Rose.

The color of the Order is inspired by the surname of Eu, Rhododactylus (Homer, Α 477; I 707; Ω 788; β 1˙δ 306˙; 187˙; 189 and Hesiod, Proc., 610.).
